    The 2023 ULI South Korea Annual Conference will take place on 29-30 June under a main theme of Life Sciences and Healthcare.
    The Life Sciences sector has grown rapidly, impacting occupier across globe. Its expansion in the last few decades has been supported by the ecosystem of the universities, the governments and private companies, attracting industry investment.
    Despite the potential and opportunities, the sector has not been understood or leveraged well by the real estate industry. While the governments are realizing the growth opportunity and importance of this sector to cities, the property and investment community still have limited knowledge of its potential.

    Mark Roopenian

    Senior Managing Director, DivcoWest

    As Managing Director of DivcoWest Real Estate Investments, Mark Roopenian leads all leasing and marketing initiatives of the Company’s Cambridge Crossing development, a 45-acre, 4.5 million square-foot mixed-use project located in the cities of Cambridge, Somerville and Boston, MA. Mark joined DivcoWest in 2015 bringing over 30 years of ground-up development and leasing experience having played significant roles in projects such as One International Place, John Hancock Tower, and Trip Advisor’s world headquarters. Mark has been deeply involved in all aspects of planning and permitting of Cambridge Crossing and is focused on attracting world-class tenants to this one-of-a-kind project and city. Prior to joining DivcoWest, Mark was a Principal with Normandy Real Estate Partners, a leading real estate operator and investment manager, overseeing all leasing and development activities for the Greater Boston and Los Angeles markets. Prior to that Mark oversaw all leasing and suburban development activities for the Chiofaro Company, a Boston area real estate development firm. Mark graduated from Boston College with a degree in Marketing and was a defensive lineman for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League prior to starting his real estate career. A Boston native, Mark is active in numerous local community and charitable organizations including CASPAR, Cambridge Family & Children Services, East End House, and is a board member of the Kendall Square Association. He currently lives in Sudbury, MA with his wife and has 3 grown children.

    Junho Pok

    CEO, IGIS X Asset Management

    Jun Ho Pok is a Co-CEO of IGIS Neovalue Asset Management, which is a joint venture with IGIS Asset Management and Neovalue, the real estate developer. Jun Ho is also a senior managing partner of IGIS Asset Management. He joined IGIS as a director of real estate development in 2014 and became a senior managing partner in 2020. In IGIS, he invested almost 10 Billion USD real estate development projects. Prior to joining IGIS Group, he worked at KORAMCO, the first REIT AMC in South Korea for 10 years. In KORAMCO, he also focused on real estate development projects and invested 3 Billion USD. Throughout his career, he focused and invested mainly in commercial real estate development. Jun Ho became a chairman of ULI South Korea in 2018 and also a member of ULI AP Executive Committee and ULI Global Governing Trusttees. Jun Ho earned his BSC and Master's degree in Seoul National University. His major was Landscape Architecture.

    Greg Contente

    VP of Development, Samuels & Associates

    Greg Contente is a real estate developer focused on developing mixed-use properties with large placemaking components. With Samuels & Associates, Greg oversees development and financial activities for ground-up construction projects, including the Parcel 12 air rights project (650,000sf of Office, Hotel and Retail) and Dot Block (500 Residential Units with Ground Floor Retail). Greg manages project teams through design, entitlements (Article 80), financing (both debt and equity), buildout and lease-up/sales. Greg received a Master of City & Regional Planning from the Bloustein School at Rutgers University and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan.

    Michelle Landers

    Executive Director, ULI Boston

    In her role as Executive Director, Michelle Landers works with members in the region’s real estate market and provides the Boston/New England District Council with strategic guidance. She oversees a dozen active committees and local product councils, who provide thought leadership and technical assistance in the responsible use of land. Prior to ULI, Michelle worked as the Manager of Marketing and Events at the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Michelle lives with her husband and dog in Boston.

    Sunny Choi

    Executive Director, ULI South Korea, ULI Asia Pacific

    Based in Seoul, Sunny Choi is the Executive Director of Urban Land Institute, South Korea and managing Partner of SC Global Partners LLC. She provides oversight and coordinates the region’s business development, corporate relationships, and fundraising/sponsorship initiatives to support ULI South Korea’s strategic plan and operating budgets. Sunny is a dedicated professional in the global real estate industry and also serves as a managing partner of SC Global Partners which provides strategic alliances and advisory in the global real estate development and investment. She has extensive international experience in business development and B2B, B2G marketing for more than 20 years across multiple industry sectors such as Construction & Engineering, IT, and Real Estate development industries. She received a bachelor’s in Russian language and literature from Hankook University of Foreign Studies and holds a master’s in Internal trade and business from Kyunghee University, South Korea.
