ULI Hong Kong: Guided Tour to Lai Chi Wo Village
Members HKD 450
ULI Hong Kong Resilience Group presents a study tour by the Centre for Civil Society and Governance of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) to Lai Chi Wo Village in the New Territories. The Sustainable Lai Chi Wo Project was launched in 2013 to replenish and revitalize the disappearing social and natural capital of the traditional Hakka farming village. Adopting a collaborative, multistakeholder approach, the project successfully developed a sustainable model for rural revitalization in Hong Kong, Greater China and beyond, offering valuable lessons for the development of community resilience and urban-rural integration. The project further develops socio-economic models for rural communities in its second phase titled HSBC Rural Sustainability and has been awarded the prestigious Special Recognition for Sustainable Development in the 2020 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.
