On Tuesday, June 12, the Urban Land Institute Asia Pacific hosted an exclusive ULI Members-Only cocktail reception to thank CY Leung, ULI Asia Pacific’s Founding Chairman, for his service to ULI and to wish him well as the Hong Kong’s fourth Chief Executive, beginning July 1, 2012.
More than 120 ULI members attended the event at the American Club, including urban planners, real estate developers, analysts, architects, investors, and engineers.
John P. Fitzgerald, Executive Director of ULI Asia Pacific, kicked off the evening with a presentation and tribute speech highlighting the significant accomplishments ULI Asia Pacific has achieved during CY Leung’s Chairmanship such as the establishment of meaningful regional programs and research initiatives like the Emerging Trends in Real Estate Asia Pacific, ULI Mainland China Real Estate Markets report; the ULI Kai Tak Advisory Panel; Ten Principles for a Sustainable Approach to New Development in Hong Kong; the recently held inaugural ULI Asia Pacific Summit in Beijing and many more.
Since 2005, CY Leung has played a key advisory role in ULI APAC’s expansion efforts resulting in the establishment of six ULI Country Councils with membership growth of 120%. Raymond Chow, the ULI North Asia Chairman, took the opportunity to thank CY Leung for recruiting him to join ULI. Today, ULI has nearly 900 members across Asia Pacific.
“I feel so proud of what ULI in this region has achieved and that ULI’s efforts are important to the region for reaching urban sustainability” says CY Leung.
The evening concluded with a cocktail reception during which CY Leung took the opportunity to mingle personally with the ULI members in attendance.
