    Join ULI Japan’s Young Leaders Group (YLG) and KUROFUNE Design Holdings Inc. for a property tour event on July 20. With the philosophy of “Living together, growing together,” U Share is KUROFUNE’s new type of student housing in Japan. Its unique brand takes inspiration from the residential education model of the UK and US, to create a new comprehensive business model covering planning, design, and development through operation. KUROFUNE co-founders and co-CEOs Takafumi Inoue and Masamichi Ueta will share their vision for student housing in Japan and the U Share concept, followed by a property tour and rooftop networking over drinks and snacks.

    Takafumi Inoue

    Co-founder & Co-CEO, KUROFUNE Design Holdings Inc.

    Takafumi Inoue is the co-founder and co-Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KUROFUNE Design Holdings. As a licensed urban planner (AICP) based in Japan, Inoue brings a social and economic perspective to the design of the spatial and built environment through his research and professional experience in urban planning, finance, and policy making. Inoue gained professional experience in mergers & acquisitions and the equity offering business at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He returned to Harvard to study the issues in the urban arena after being engaged in developer’s finance projects as a World Bank scholarship fellow. Upon graduating from Harvard, Inoue worked for Sasaki as an urban planner engaging in international development, campus planning in the U.S., district planning, and community engagement. Inoue holds a Master of Urban Planning from Harvard Graduate School of Design and a B.A. in Policy Management from Keio University, where he graduated as a valedictorian.

    Masamichi Ueta

    Co-founder & Co-CEO, KUROFUNE Design Holdings Inc.

    Masamichi Ueta is the co-founder and co-Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KUROFUNE Design Holdings. He was involved in the real estate private equity business at Morgan Stanley Capital and Angelo Gordon. Ueta was involved in the startup stage of the nendo design office and engaged in the CRE, PFI, and large-scale development inside and outside of Japan at Kashima Corporation Design Headquarters’ urban planning group. Ueta strives to make use of an architectural development method integrating “long-term and socially conscious real estate investment” and “added value through design.” As a Fulbright scholar, Ueta pursued a Master of Real Estate Design degree at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Additionally, he is a first grade licensed architect and developer with a Bachelor of Architecture degree and a Master of Architecture degree from Waseda University Graduate School. Ueta was recognized for his achievements after graduating, winning the Azusa Ono Memorial Award.
