Speaker Bio

Bill McHarg, Co-founder, Colliers International

One of Australia’s most influential and understated property industry figures, Bill McHarg is co-founder and former Chairman of Colliers International, Australia’s largest property agency. Bill co-built the company, together with six co-founders and colleagues, to scale across 250 offices internationally. As a developer, his successes include winner of MBA Best in Queensland Awards in 2016 and 2018 for medium rise apartment developments at Palm Beach and Main Beach, Gold Coast.
A committed activist for sustainability,  Bill claims some credit for evicting John Howard from Parliament in 2007, for the latter’s lack of action on climate change. Bill cemented a successful record of conservation activism to save historic buildings, Melbourne vintage trams and protect against inappropriate developments in Victoria. Bill is a former board member of the Green Building Council of Australia, Property Council of Australia (Victoria) and Melbourne Recital Centre.
Tertiary educated in Property, Economics and Accounting, Bill counts his greatest achievement as being father of four solid citizens.
