Khoo Teng Chye Appointed as ULI Asia Pacific Chair
Prof Khoo aims to leverage ULI’s global platform in the Asia Pacific region, whilst increasing membership and expanding geographic reach.
ULI is its members. Through our members’ dedication to the mission and their shared expertise, the Institute has been able to set standards of excellence in development practice. Our mission is to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide.
The timing is right for us to strengthen our presence in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) as it is the bay area that has the fastest growing economy in the world, positioned as the next global innovation hub. This megaregion will continue to attract a lot of real estate capital. Construction of new builds and urban renewal will continue to accelerate. ULI and its members can contribute to the GBA by building a meaningful network to connect industry professionals, inspire best practices and lead in city and community developments.
We are very proud to announce the setting up the ULI GBA Organising Committee, which will drive the strategy and plan to grow ULI’s programme of work in the region. Kudos to ULI China Mainland Chair Hei Ming Cheng, KaiLong, ULI Hong Kong Immediate Past Chair Raymond Chow, Hongkong Land, and new Chair Phil Kim, Jerde Partnership. This strategic initiative is a joint effort between the two councils – ULI China Mainland and ULI Hong Kong. It has also happened thanks to the tremendous support from new Global Governing Trustee, James Wong from, Hon Kwok Land; founding member and chair of ULI GBA, who has been instrumental in pushing this growth plan forward.
“ULI has had established membership in Hong Kong and Shanghai for some years, with a growing presence in Beijing, and I am pleased that this new initiative will add another fast growing region to ULI’s areas of focus. Under James Wong’s leadership the GBA committee will embrace a broad group of investors, developers, technology companies, and finance, design and real estate professionals across the Greater Bay Area”, said ULI Asia Pacific President David Faulkner.
The ULI GBA leadership team welcomes new ideas, collaboration opportunities, and your support and participation. Follow the newly set up ULI China Mainland LinkedIn for the latest development. If you have any questions, please reach out to Kelly Mai, Executive Director of ULI GBA, who is based in Shenzhen.
