With over 20 years of real estate experience, Desmond has undertaken various roles. He started off this career as a real estate appraiser and property tax consultant before he was transferred to the research team. It was subsequently followed by leading the consultancy team; to business development.
He was also part of the team which incepted and completed various private equity real estate funds in China and India.
He has also undertaken numerous research, feasibility and master planning studies in Singapore and other countries including Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei and Maldives.
Key clients include major developers, financial institutions, private equity funds as well as government bodies.
Chief Planner and Deputy CEO
Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore
Yu-Ning is currently the Chief Planner, a role in which she oversees the urban planning of Singapore. She is also a Deputy Chief Executive Officer with the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), Singapore’s land use planning and conservation authority.
She was previously Director of Land & Liveability in the Strategy Group of Singapore’s Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). In that role, she helped strengthen strategic alignment on land and infrastructure issues across government. Yu-Ning has also held various appointments in the URA and the Ministry of National Development. Her experience ranges from long term strategic planning to local urban design and master planning. It also extends to land use and development control policies, the conservation of built heritage and government land sales.
She is a global governing trustee with the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and co-chairs ULI Singapore’s Women’s Leadership Initiative. She also serves as an executive committee member on ULI Singapore’s National Council. She is on the Council for Estate Agencies’ Appeal Board and the IJ Board of Management.
Yu-Ning studied architecture at the National University of Singapore. She subsequently obtained a Master in Public Policy & Urban Planning degree from Harvard University. She is married with 2 children.
Tim Stonor is an architect and urban planner who has devoted his career to the analysis and design of human behaviour patterns: the ways in which people move, interact and transact in buildings and urban places. He is recognised internationally for his work in the design of spatial layouts and, in particular, the role of space in the generation of social, economic and environmental value.
Tim is the Managing Director of Space Syntax, an urban planning and design company created at University College London in 1989 to develop and apply predictive design technologies. He is a founding member of The Academy of Urbanism, a Visiting Professor at The Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, and a Harvard Loeb Fellow. In 2018 he became Deputy Chair of the UK Design Council and was appointed to the Advisory Board of the Norman Foster Foundation.
Executive Vice President and Co-Head of Australia
Mr. Poljak is the Executive Vice President and Co-Head for Brookfield Properties in Australia. Mr. Poljak is responsible for overseeing real estate management, operations, leasing, valuations, analysis, and joint venture/partnerships of the Australian real estate portfolio. Mr. Poljak joined Brookfield in 2004 and has more than 19 years’ experience in real estate, having worked extensively across the organization on leading major transactions, repositioning and development projects.
