In honor of the 30th anniversary of Eileen Chang’s passing, The Repulse Bay presents Eileen Chang’s Hong Kong: Love, Upheaval, and the Fragility of Beauty — an immersive exhibition exploring the acclaimed author’s deep connection to Hong Kong and the legendary Repulse Bay Hotel.

This curated private tour offers WLI guests a rare opportunity to view important artefacts and memorabilia, including a 1941 hotel menu, evocative photographs, and previously unreleased materials that highlight the hotel’s timeless elegance. Also featured are replicas of Chang’s original manuscripts and letters, on loan from the Hong Kong Metropolitan University, providing an intimate glimpse into her creative process and the poetic fragility of her world.

Through this journey, discover how the grandeur of The Repulse Bay and the chaos of wartime Hong Kong shaped Eileen Chang’s explorations of love, identity, and resilience — themes that continue to define her legacy in modern Chinese literature.

Following the tour, guests are invited to continue the conversation and network over drinks at the Bamboo Bar, a beloved spot that echoes the sophistication and charm of the old Repulse Bay Hotel.
